Lucy is an
Assistant Instructor with Paws'n'Learn and also trains her dog Boris with the Adult Social
Group. She has owned dogs most of her life; the majority of these being rescue dogs and
now runs her own dog walking business based in Solihull www.solidogs.co.uk
Lucy is about to start a degree
course in Canine Behaviour and Training at Bishop Burton College, and has previously
gained certificates in Understanding the Family Dog and Canine First Aid, and
is currently doing a Pet Sitters Certificate. She
has also done voluntary dog walking for a dog rescue centre.
She also plans to train to become a Tellington Touch practitioner.
Boris is a handsome Springer
Spaniel who Lucy adopted from the Dogs Trust in September 2007. Having arrived with both
food and toy possession, as well as other resource guarding, dog aggression and some
general handling and grooming aggression, he has changed completely from a tense nervous
dog who was a nightmare to walk to being much more relaxed and friendly, and rarely these
days gets into an altercation with another dog (unless the other dog comes barging up to
him, and even that is improving!). Lucy has
also worked hard to improve his arthritis, putting Boris on a diet to lose excess weight,
and taking him to hydrotherapy and a chiropractitioner. This along with a good diet,
nutritional supplementation and plenty of TTouch seems to decrease his pain levels and
help to make him a lot less reactive. Hopefully
the improvements will continue!
